S I C K (18)

 S I C K

Not a common cold all the time, folks. Even if that is all you want it to be. Being sick can come in different forms or sizes. Can be arranged within the confines of a hospital room, or in the comforts of home. Though to be sick, isn’t always running a fever, or having some form of a runny nose. It could be something so hidden, so invisible, that it isn’t seen at all.

People will stare sometimes. Even more, be so confused they will never stop asking questions about it. More or less, those people don’t truly see what is behind it all. They see one thing, but have no idea how wrong they actually are. “In sickness and in health” as people say in marriage, or in simple everyday life as well.

Just because every sickness isn’t always seen, does not mean that it is any smaller than others. It is simply something that others have yet to have crossed into their own lives. Sometimes in order for people to truly understand, is to see what occurs first hand. The shaking, fainting, feverish, chills of a condition that hides within a shell of a person.

Though it is simple to see through people, people who all live different lives from one another. It is simple to make them feel small for something that no one understands. Sick. Although, the invisibility can wear off and be visible to the eyes, that does not mean that every person is ready to see exactly what it is that so many people hide.

Your illness does not define you. Your strength and courage does.

P O W E R(17)

                                                                             P O W E R

Remember that question that almost everyone asks you at some point, “What do you wish was your superpower?” In a way, don’t we already have powers? The ones that we might not always think of. Being fearless and strong, or being selfless and brave. Even if being brave is the last thing you expect.

The thing with power is we don’t always realize we can use our own. That you are able to stand up for what you believe in, and have the power to take a stand. To fight for yourself and what is right is truly using your power. That you can control the outcome even if you don’t believe you can.

Instead of ending, or making this a traditional post, I’m going to add an original poem for those of you who might forget that you hold your power. You. No one else. Enjoy.

Power

No matter what you think

Or how long time is.

You hold your power,

Strong-willed,

Grit and tears to fizz.

Power doesn’t have to be,

Something that you hide.

Power can be a reason,

That makes you try.

To fight alongside those who can’t.

To stand up and believe that you truly can.

Because that power has been within you,

Maybe longer than you think.

But it was hiding in plain sight,

Closed off in one blink.

So hold your power, and your head high.

And don’t be afraid to dull your shine.

As your power is now on the surface of those you face,

To show them that your strength can never be replaced.

H A P P I N E S S (16)

 H A P P I N E S S

Something that comes in life when you least expect it to. Though it surrounds life from the minute you are born. It’s something that doesn’t fade away, even though it does feel like it at points. It’s something that you can feel like you can live without, even when it’s been there the entire time. In small ways, or large ones, being happy is more than just a state of being.

Being happy can come from different alleys or things. It doesn’t have to be because of someone. It can be from even the smallest thing. Like a touch or glance from someone you care about. From someone you care about, something from them will always be enough to make you happy. Or it could be standing at a concert for your favorite musician. Feeling those happy tears slide down your cheeks just shows that the bad won't cloud the good.

Sometimes happiness might be faint, or feel like it is fading. When that happens, the things that make you happy in life might be harder to grasp more than ever. Objects and things that make you happy can come in and out of your life, and even change over time. The one thing that never changes is the smile, or feeling that you get.

Happiness is enjoying the little things in life.

"Spoons" On St. Patrick's Day

As many of us think of today as a day to celebrate good luck, or wear a lot of green and eat Corned Beef and Cabbage. I had mixed feelings ...
